Small Space Decorating: Guest Bathroom Refresh

January 12, 2022

This post is in partnership with Christmas Tree Shops. As always, all opinions are my own.

I’m kicking off the New Year by tackling some home updates, and first on my list was a guest bathroom refresh. As we’re having more and more friends and family visit this year, I wanted to make the guest room feel cozy and inviting – and that includes the bathroom! Decorating small spaces can be challenging, especially on a budget, but I found everything that I needed at Christmas Tree Shops! I’m always impressed by their unique selection and affordable prices that make it easy and stress free to accomplish any home project.

Christmas Tree Shops is not only my go-to for the best seasonal decor – they’ve got you covered for every season and every reason. I’m especially loving the storage & organization selection, which I like to incorporate into all of my home updates.

When it comes to styling a small room I try to make sure that most pieces are both decorative and functional, and since I’m working with a small counter space here, I wanted to avoid any unnecessary clutter. I started with a round wooden tray which is not only great for displaying essential items, but it also helps keeps the counter tidy. Christmas Tree Shops had a huge assortment of trays and baskets in every shape, size and color – you’ll find something for any space you’re working with! You can add any items you want to a bathroom tray, but here are a few ideas:

  • Cotton round dispenser
  • Q-tip jar
  • Cotton ball jar
  • Wash cloths
  • Candle or oil diffuser
  • Beauty products
  • Greenery or small plant

I went with a cotton round dispenser, q-tip jar, wash cloths and a plant to tie it all together. I always like to incorporate greenery into my home decor, and Christmas Tree Shops had both real succulents and faux plants to choose from. While I’m normally a real plant type of person… with minimal natural light in most bathrooms, your best bet is to go the faux route. Plus you (and your guests) won’t have to worry about watering it!

Sticking with a light and bright color palette is a great way to make a small room feel bigger, and as you can see in this before and after shot above – I kept the decor simple, clean and cohesive to the colors. I wanted the bathroom to have a spa like feel to it, and I really like how it all came together.

Soap and lotion duos are always a good idea to set out, and I upgraded the plastic bottles I had before to a much nicer looking set that can be refilled whenever it runs out. Christmas Tree Shops makes it easy to find the perfect items for any room you are decorating with their unique collections – there is something for every decor style!

It’s always important to keep the bathroom stocked with essentials, and a storage basket is an easy way to have items (such as extra toilet paper) easily available for your guests. I also love using these baskets for linen closet organization, but since this bathroom does not have a linen closet, it also works just sitting out above the toilet. Like I mentioned earlier, decorative and functional is what we’re going for!

I also grabbed some fresh new towels and wash cloths specifically for the guest bathroom. You can never have too many towels, and with the prices so good at Christmas Tree Shops, I was able to stock up!

The shower curtain is often the first thing you see when walking into a bathroom, and it’s a fun way to add a touch of personality to the space! Christmas Tree Shops had so many options in different colors and patterns that no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll be sure to find the right fit. I wanted the shower curtain in this bathroom to elevate the space with a fun design that would compliment the theme without overpowering the decor, and I love the one I went with!

I like to make sure the bathroom cabinet is stocked with various toiletry items that our guests may forget to bring such as a hair brush, razor, mouth wash, lotion, etc. as well as any cleaning supplies that may come in handy. I’m using baskets all from Christmas Tree Shops to help keep items neat, organized, and visible. Bathroom cabinets can easily become chaotic, and this is such an easy way to keep it organized! Like I mentioned earlier, Christmas Tree Shops has such a huge selection of bins and baskets that you’ll be sure to find the perfect size or shape for the cabinet or closet you’re working with.

No matter what home project you have planned for this year, Christmas Tree Shops has got you covered with all things home decor, storage, organization and more! I love that you can walk into the store and get inspired by their ever changing assortment of unique items and collections. Every time I visit the store, there is something new on the shelves!
